driving license counterpart

The end of the driving licence counterpart

As of the 8th June 2015 the driving licence counterpart ceased to exist. Any new licence issued after this date will only come as the plastic card licence.

For our driving instructors to be able to ensure that our pupils are eligible and legal to take driving lessons we will now need all new pupils to generate a code using https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

This code along with your driving licence number will enable us to check the details held online for any driving offences or convictions.

The code is valid for a period of 72 hours from the time it is generated. We will need this code either before or on your first driving lesson. More details about the changes to the driving licence can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/news/driving-licence-changes
